Specification Grade Silicone

ElastaPro supplies specification grade silicone that meets tough industry specifications and customer callouts.

What is Specification Grade Silicone?

Specification grade silicone is a silicone elastomer that meets published specifications from government or regulatory agencies, trade groups, independent standards organizations, or original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). ElastaPro makes many types of specification grade silicones and provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) with each batch. That’s important because compounders who substitute ingredients may no longer meet the spec silicone that they claim to satisfy.

Types of Specification Grade Silicone

These are just some of the specification grade silicones that we can provide.

  • 3-A silicones meet the requirements of the 3-A Sanitary Standard from CFR Title 21, Part 177.2600 in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
  • A-A-55759 silicones meet the requirements of specific classes and grades in A-A-55759, a General Services Administration (GSA) specification .
  • A-A-59588 silicones meet the requirements of specific classes and grades in A-A-59588, a GSA spec that superseded ZZ-R-765.
  • AMS-R-25988 fluorosilicones meet the requirements of an SAE International spec that supersedes MIL-DTL-25988 and is used by the U.S. military.
  • AMS silicones meet Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS) from SAE International. AMS3301 and AMS3345 are two examples.
  • ASTM D1056 silicones are medium-density closed cell silicone sponge materials with low compression set.
  • ASTM E595 silicones meet the low outgassing requirements in ASTM E595, which forms the basis for NASA’s low outgassing standard.
  • BMS silicones meet requirements from the Boeing Material System (BMS), a quality assurance standard that is used by Boeing’s suppliers and partners.
  • DMS silicones meet Douglas Material Specification (DMS) requirements, which are now managed by The Boeing Company.
  • EFSA silicones comply with European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) requirements for direct food contact.
  • European Pharmacopoeia silicones meet Ph. Eur monograph 3.19 requirements for ensuring that materials are safe for pharmaceutical use.
  • FAR 25.853 silicones meet FAR 25.853 flammability requirements for aircraft component interiors.
  • FDA silicones meet U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for rubber articles intended for repeated use in contact with food.
  • ISO 10993 silicones meet the requirements of an ISO standard for evaluating the compatibility of medical grade silicones.
  • LMA silicones meet Lockheed Martin Aeronautics requirements for aerospace silicones.
  • LMA silicones meet Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (LMA) requirements. LMA-ME025 and LMA-STM are two examples.
  • MIL-SPEC silicones meet U.S. military specifications and standards such as MIL-DTL-25988, MIL-STD-417 TA, and WS14644.
  • PWA silicones meet Pratt & Whitney requirements for aerospace materials.
  • UL94 V-0 silicones meet the UL94 V-0 flammability specification and have UL Yellow Card.
  • USP Class VI silicones meet standards from biocompatibility from the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.
